LNG tanker port would impact island lifestyle

LNG tanker port would impact island lifestyle

Jamestownpress.com Editorial, Narragansett Bay is the boating capital of New England. These supertankers would frequently disrupt sailing regattas in the summer months. Bridge closings would delay emergency ambulance trips across the Pell Bridge. There could be economic impacts, such as a decline in property values, as well.

There is still time to be heard. Other agencies must approve the plan and public hearings will be held. We’ll keep you informed. In the meantime, write to our U.S. senators and representatives. They need to know how you feel about these LNG supertankers sailing past your home more than once a week. Read the story here.

Skip and I were planning a trip weather permitting wed / thur overnight this week with the boys … Saturday morning I notice the forecast improved and confirmed with Sam that there’s a small but good window Sat / Sunday overnight.

I call and email Skip around 7:30 am saying let’s go … about an hour later we’re confirmed and I’m scrambling to get the all the gear ready and Skip’s runnin his ass off at the office to get out of there – target is to leave the dock at 2 -

Morgan (and the crew at Newport Yachting Center!) helps me get the boat loaded and fueled – we meet at the loaded boat around 2pm – Skip gets everything kind of where it needs to be on boat and we pull out around 2:50 for a long ride to West Atlantis – Henry’s away so Dylan Pexton takes his spot. …… Skip, myself, James, Morgan and Dylan – long sloppy ride out with left over swells from 10 days of wind and seas …
no white caps, but some 10 footers mixed in that make for a bumpy ride at about 20 knots … (more…)
