The Receivership was the result of ongoing cash flow problems caused by the company’s inability to obtain refinancing and by the termination of a construction contract by one of the company’s international customers.

Career opportunities – January 8

An evening career information session on January 8 hosted by the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) will give individuals a chance to learn about training and career opportunities in the marine industry from area employers.

The session runs from 6 pm to 8 pm at the auditorium of the CCRI Newport Campus (One John H. Chafee Blvd.) and is geared to individuals who either have no experience in the field, individuals who have work background in the boating business, and to those such as electrical technicians, electricians, machine operators, and welders who want to learn how to transfer their skills to the marine industry.

“With the high unemployment rates we are facing, individuals need to make careful decisions about where to invest their time to retrain for new careers,” says Susan Daly of IYRS. “This session is an excellent way to gather information about opportunities in the marine field and ways to train to gain in-demand skills. With such a high concentration of marine businesses in Rhode Island, this is a field individuals can consider making a long-term commitment to.” (more…)
