10/24/08 The OLIVER HAZARD PERRY arrived this morning, entering Narragansett Bay for the first time just after 8:00 am. She was towed in by tugboat, ending a journey that started by crossing Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. The tug was repositioned and then maneuvered the Oliver Hazard Perry into Newport.

10/17/08 This is the freighter Slotergracht of Amsterdam anchored off Portsmouth this morning. She is a Sevenstar yacht transport loading boats to be delivered to the Med. This particular delivery started in Ft Lauderdale and stopped in Savannah Georgia before arriving here in Rhode Island. The next stop is the Canary Islands then, Palma, Italy, Greece and Turkey. The company operates about 100 ships that move all kinds of cargo below decks including lumber, steel and grain. Topsides are reserved for yachts. (more…)

10/15/08 The Jamestown Press ” Plans call for the expanded RIMS facility to be landscaped with park-like grounds. “It will be more club-like. We now have a beautiful sandy beach. We will have more grills, tiki huts and kayak racks available,” Theresa said.” RIMS will have 94 slips for the 2009 season.
